Come to Rotary Park in Winooski on June 19, 2021 for Juneteenth Winooski to celebrate and honor Black freedom and joy in all forms.
Juneteenth commemorates an important date in history. On June 19th 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas to read the Emancipation Proclamation letting the enslaved people there know they were finally free. A celebration began and every year since then, communities across our nation have celebrated Juneteenth.
Juneteenth Winooski is an inclusive, all ages event that is free and open to all who want to attend. The event will feature speakers, poetry, dance, music performances and opportunities to visit different vendors and activity areas throughout the park. We also encourage attendees to visit downtown businesses as many are featuring Juneteenth cocktails and other specials to mark the occasion.
We can’t wait to see you there! Watch this space as we share more details in the coming days!
