WORKSHOP: Mehndi: The Traditional Art of Henna Painting

April 29 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Fleming Museum

| $20

Bridgette Butler, Henna artist and owner of Maple Mehndi

Mehndi is the Hindi word for the intricate patterns painted on the body with henna paste, one of the world’s oldest cosmetics. In this workshop, Mehndi artist Bridgette Butler introduces participants to the rich history of henna painting—the origins of the henna plant, and a brief survey of its uses, designs, and traditions in different cultures. In the hands-on portion of the workshop, participants practice painting henna designs on themselves (or on paper), and learn how to prepare henna paste.

Fee: $20. Preregistration is required
