Come for a get-away in Vermont with Women Outdoors and Bold Paths Adventures. Good company, good food, good exercise and arts/crafts!
Open to all skill levels. We have room for some people to stay at the Bold Paths house (owned by Bold Path Adventures proprietor Bonna) but additional accommodation options are listed below.
Women on this adventure should become members of Women Outdoors (www.womenoutdoors.org), as it is an overnight trip.
Choose your adventure! Here are the options for hiking, biking, weather dependent XC Skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing.
• 1/2 hr away: $20 for Strafford Nordic Ski Center, to ski on groomed trails.
• 1 hour away: Killington downhill skiing (see their website (http://www.killington.com/site/index.html)).
• 1/2 hour away: Lake Morey skate trail—longest trail in the US, nordic skates for rent at the Lake Morey Inn.
• Right here: local hikes, including short and long, and 45 minutes to mountain trails and Appalachian Trail; Cross country skiing or snowshoeing in the fields behind the house (good beginner or warm-up terrain) and local snowmobile trails.
Once we know who’s coming, we can choose which group activities we do and the schedule.
Accommodations: We have a house with 3 bedrooms with double beds, and 5 mattresses and lots of sleeping pads that we can put on the floor. Sharing rooms makes an inexpensive weekend!! We are thinking about a breakfast or a dinner out, if we feel like it.
We can fit 8 people at the house: this option is good for those who don’t mind sharing a room or sleeping on a couch or a pad on the floor.
If you are local, you can just join us for a day or two.
For those who’d rather have their own room, you can book your own accommodations at one of these inns, which are about 1/2 hour drive away:
Breakfast on the Connecticut (http://breakfastonthect.com/)
Lake Morey Resort (http://lakemoreyresort.com/)
For those staying at Bold Paths (limit: 8 participants): $160 for the weekend/$90 for one night if sleeping in a double bed in a shared room. $100 for the weekend/$55 for one night if sleeping on the couch or on the floor on a mattress.
For those staying off-campus (limit: 12 participants): $40 for the weekend, $25 for one day.
Cost for either option includes x-country skiing instruction on request, access to trails at Bonna’s, use of Bonna’s house for cooking and arts/crafts activities. Food costs not included. We’ll cook together; bring groceries.
Tell us if you are interested, so we can get an idea of how many people we can expect: write to or call Bonna at 802-333-3549 and then RSVP here.
