Learn more about our 2017 speakers:
Yvonne Daley is a nonfiction writer and author, mother of five, grandmother of six, baker, gardener, birdwatcher, dog and cat lover, feminist and believer in the art of positive thinking (most of the time.) She has published five books, more than 5,000 investigative, feature and magazine articles, and is the recipient of 40 national and regional awards. Yvonne will talk about the power of words, curiosity and action.
Cary Brown is the Executive Director of the Vermont Commission on Women. Cary served two terms as a VCW commissioner before joining the staff in 2012. She has worked as the Director of Girls’ Programs for Vermont Works for Women and directed the Women in Technology Project. She has served on the boards of Northern New England Tradeswomen, Turtle Island Children’s Center, the New England Association for Cooperative Education and Field Experience, and the Norwich University Alumni Association.
Tiffany Bluemle is the Executive Director of Change the Story. After a brief stint on the ill-fated Mondale presidential campaign, Tiffany worked as a middle and high school history teacher and at NYC Outward Bound. Upon moving to Vermont, she joined Vermont Works for Women where she served as its executive director for seventeen years. She left that post in 2015 to lead Change the Story VT, a multi-year, systemic approach to improving women’s economic opportunity.
Cary and Tiffany will present Telling the Story to Change the Story for Women in Vermont: What We’ve Learned About What’s Left to Do.
New this year will be a panel presentation, moderated by Dr. Carrie Williams Howe, Executive Director of Vermont Higher Education Council, and featuring Dr. Heather Bouchey, Deputy Secretary at VT State Agency of Education, Dr. Gail Gibson Sheffield, VP for Academic Affairs at Landmark College, Dr. Wanda Heading-Grant, VP for Human Resources, Diversity & Multicultural Affairs at UVM, Dr. Mariko Silver, President of Bennington College, and Thy Yang, AVP for International Education at Norwich University.
