Please Join Us for Equal Pay Day at the State House • Date: Tuesday, April 4, 2017 • Time: 12:00 pm • Location: Cedar Creek room of the State House

Equal Pay Day’s date symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year due to the gender wage gap.

Let us know that you’re joining us on our Facebook Event Page (though no RSVP is necessary).

This Equal Pay Day press conference will address the gender wage gap, and will also unveil the new report, Vermont Women in Leadership from Change The Story VT (CTS), an initiative fueled by the Vermont Women’s Fund, Vermont Commission on Women, and Vermont Works for Women.  CTS is committed to fast-tracking women’s economic status in our state. This report presents new data on the participation of women in various leadership roles, including federal, state and municipal government, Abenaki Nations, academia, law enforcement, and the corporate and non-profit sectors.

This event will feature Speaker of the Vermont House Mitzi Johnson, Cary Brown of the Vermont Commission on Women, Jen Kimmich of The Alchemist, Pat Moulton of Vermont Tech, Treasurer Beth Pearce, Joe Fusco of Casella Waste Systems, feature Speaker of the Vermont House Mitzi Johnson, Jen Kimmich of The Alchemist, and Melody Brook of the Abenaki Women’s Council and VT Commission on Native American Affairs.

Join advocates for equal pay, including the Women’s Caucus of the legislature, Change The Story Vermont, the League of Women Voters of Vermont, and Vermont Federation of Business and Professional Women, the Vermont Commission on Women and many others.   Wear red to symbolize women being “in the red” due to the gender wage gap.

Related events that morning will include an observance of the Equal Pay Day resolution, taking place upon completion of opening proceedings in the House at 10:00; and a proclamation signing in the Governor’s ceremonial office at 11:30.
