The League of Women Voters, in partnership with Kellogg-Hubbard Library, is pleased to present its 2018-19 Speaker Series on “Constitutional Crisis?” Four thought-provoking lectures engaging expert speakers will be held on the second Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Hayes Room at the Library located at 135 Main Street, Montpelier.

The schedule of lectures is as follows:

September 12  – Election Security. In this age of technological advances, ensuring free and fair elections has become increasingly complicated. The community will hear from Secretary of State Jim Condos who will discuss protections Vermont has in place to secure the integrity of our elections and what States need from Congress to secure future elections. Condos has served as Vermont’s Secretary of State since January 2011 and is President of the National Association of Secretaries of State.

January 9 – Does Your Vote Count? Learn how partisan gerrymandering can predetermine election results.

March 13 – Understanding Liberalism and Conservatism. What do these words mean historically and in our present day?

May 15 – Single-Issue Politics. Are single-issue politics ethical? Unethical?  Useful?  Does it matter if we talk about parties or individual voters?

The Speaker Series is free and open to the public with dedicated time for questions. For more information please call 802.229.4737 or email

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government
