JavaScript is the programming language used to add interactivity to websites. Ever used Google maps or Facebook? Clicked on a link or button that triggered a dialog box to appear? Seen a slideshow of images? JavaScript is the language that makes this type of interactive behavior possible! We’ll start from the beginning and by the end of the course you’ll have a knowledge of Javascript’s syntax and fundamental concepts. You’ll understand how Javascript is used to add interactivity to websites. We will be covering Variables, Functions, Arrays, Loops, and Objects. We will also look at how Javascript can be used to modify the content, presentation and behavior of a website using event handlers and the DOM, or Document Object Model. We’ll also discuss what Javascript libraries are, for example the popular jQuery library, and how they can be leveraged to achieve complex functionality without writing lots of Javascript code from scratch.

This is one course, split over four days! Each day is required to complete the course material:

Monday, October 15, 6:00pm-8:30pm

Thursday, October 18, 6:00pm-8:30pm

Monday, October 22, 6:00pm-8:30pm

Thursday, October 25, 6:00pm-8:30pm

Because JavaScript interacts with HTML elements, we suggest having a working knowledge of HTML as a prerequisite for this course. Whether you already know some HTML, or you’re taking our HTML & CSS class, Javascript is a great next step!

The $100 fee covers all four days. Students must attend all four sessions.

Tech Requirements:
1. Your laptop – Note: a netbook or tablet is NOT a substitute!
2. Download the latest version of browser Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome).
3. A text editor. We recommend Sublime Text 2 (http://www.sublimetext.com/2) (It’s free and available for both Mac and PC).

We’re here to help! If you have additional questions or would like to talk further before signing up for a class, please post your question here or contact the leadership team at [masked].

Our curriculum is tailored toward adult learners, so we cannot accommodate students under 18 years old.

We want you to have the best experience possible. Do you have any accessibility concerns the event organizer should know about? Please let us know via email or Meetup message.
