The Governor’s Institutes of Vermont is pleased to announce opportunities for girls in STEM and Arts fields at the upcoming Winter Weekend Institutes. Held at Goddard College in February, these 48-hour learning extravaganzas give girls grades 9-12 the chance to dive into an intellectual passion or explore something new and exciting, all while meeting new and like-minded peers, and forming life-long friendships. This year, topics being offered are Backpack Journalism: Writing, Film, and Storytelling; Directing Theatre; Youth Leadership; Microcontrollers; Biological Illustration; Chaos Art; Global Education and Youth Voice; Neuroscience; Disaster Health and Epidemiology; and Songwriting Boot Camp. A sliding scale tuition model makes this experience affordable for every Vermont Student: prices can be as low as $10! Applications are considered on a rolling basis, and spaces fill up quickly, so students can gain an advantage by applying early!
