Spend the winter cozying up at Bike Recycle Vermont and learning how to repair and maintain your bike. Babes are welcome to attend Open Shop every other Wednesday evening through March.
Open Shop is an opportunity to use the bike stands and tools at Bike Recycle Vermont to do your own maintenance and repair work with the help of professional mechanics and experienced volunteers. Open Shop is all about sharing experiences, skills, and getting your hands dirty.
Very limited parts are available for sale at Bike Recycle Vermont (cables, housing brake pads), so please purchase parts at Old Spokes Home prior to Open Shop if you know what you need. If you don’t know what you need, come to Open Shop and a mechanic will work with you to diagnose any issues and make a list of parts and materials you’ll need to do the work.
Open Shop is free to attend and there’s a suggested donation of $5 to $25 depending on how much time your bike spends in the stand, how much material (grease, lube, rags) you use, and how much time a staff mechanic spends with you completing a repair (i.e. a 10-minute quick flat fix would be a suggested $5 suggested donation versus a 2-hour bottom bracket overhaul being a $25 suggested donation). No one will be turned away for a lack of funds.
All babes are welcome though Open Shop prioritizes women and non-binary people.
Zero Gravity Craft Brewery is providing a cooler full of brews! Isn’t that something? They’re the best.
