Presented by the Northern New England Women’s Investors Network (NNE WIN) | Powered by WBON
Join us for a half day educational workshop on addressing unconscious bias in the workplace and in investing.
We’ll hear from Jessica Nordhaus and Lindsay Lathrop-Ryan about their groundbreaking work with Change the Story’s Business Peer Exchange, a collective of companies working together to ensure women thrive in their workplaces.
Jessica and Lindsay will be talking about unconscious bias in business and how that might translate into the work we do as investors and mentors. Following the presentation, we’ll break up into smaller discussion groups to debrief and digest what we heard with facilitators and talk about:
- How can we prevent unconscious bias from happening in our investing, and in the businesses we support?
- What are some ways in which we can conduct our diligence with female entrepreneurs that prevents unconscious bias from showing up in our process? What are some questions we would ask female entrepreneurs that are not biased?
We’ll then hear from a panel of women entrepreneurs who will tell their story and the group will have a chance to practice asking questions with less bias.
At the end of the workshop, we’ll have time to network with each other – women investors in Northern New England who are looking to engage more proactively in supporting women entrepreneurs.
After the event, you’re all invited to head on over to the Vermont Investors Summit beginning at 5pm at the Lake Champlain Sailing Center for an evening of celebration of Vermont’s innovative ecosystem.
